This is a picture of me doing one of my favorite things - fishing!
I am in Galveston's West Bay in my homemade fishing skiff.
The name of my boat is "Hook Em!" I was born in Austin, Texas - what should you expect?
Once upon a time, there was an elderly lady who was very cultured and very refined. She and her husband were planning a week's vacation in Florida, and they wanted to find a campground that was suitable for them to bring their RV. She wanted to make sure the campground was fully equipped, but she didn't know how to ask about the toilet facilities. Being such a refined lady she just could not bring herself to write the word "toilet" in her letter.
Well, after much deliberation she finally came up with the term "bathroom commode." But after writing that down she still thought she was being much too forward, so she rewrote the entire letter and referred to the "bathroom commode" as merely the "B.C."
When the campground owner got the letter he couldn't figure out what this woman was talking about. He showed the letter to several of his employees, but they couldn't imagine what "B.C." meant. Finally, the campground owner came to the conclusion that the lady must be asking about the location of the nearest Baptist church. So he sat down and wrote the following reply:
Dear Mrs. Smith:
I regret the delay in answering your letter, but I now take the pleasure of informing you a B.C. is located 9 miles north of the campground, and is capable of seating 250 people at one time. It is located in a beautiful pine grove and is open only on Sundays and Wednesdays.I admit it is quite a distance away if you're in the habit of going regularly, but no doubt you will be pleased to know that many people take their lunch along and make a day of it. In fact, they usually arrive early and stay late. My daughter met her husband in the B.C. Sometimes it is so crowded there are five to a seat. It may interest you to know that right now there is a supper planned to raise money to buy more seats. They're going to hold it in the basement of the B.C. It pains me very much not to be able to go more regularly, but it is surely not due to a lack of desire on my part. As we grow older it seems to be more of an effort, particularly in cold weather. If you decide to come to our campground, perhaps I could go with you the first time you go and sit with you and introduce you to all the other folks. We will be sure to get a seat up front where you can be seen by everyone. Remember we are a friendly community.

Can You Answer My Riddle?
"A man left home jogging. He jogged for a while; and then, he turned left. He jogged
some more; and then, he turned left again. He jogged for a while longer; and then,
he turned left another time. After this, he came back home where he was met by
two masked men"
You can find the answer to this riddle at the bottom of my sermon page.
I believe that we are in great need of Christian role models in the realm of athletics. Our athletes also need to become motivated for all of the right reasons. This is why I have started putting together a list of quotes from Christian athletes accompanied with appropriate scripture references. I hope that you will find these to be inspiring.
