. Our Affiliation
We are affiliated with the local South Texas Baptist Association, the Southern Baptists
of Texas State Convention and the National Southern Baptist Convention (SBC), and we
contribute financially to the Cooperative Program
. Our Doctrine
We are a conservative Bible believing church, and we ascribe to the Baptist Faith
and Message (This not a creed; it is a confession of faith)
. Church Polity
We are an autonomous church. We have a Deacon Body, and most of our decision
making is done through a democratic process. Our parliamentary procedure is based
on Robert's Rules of Order.
. Church History
Our first Worship Service took place on May 24th of 2009. The Clayton Funeral Home
was gracious to us and allowed us to use their facility for free for the first few months.
After this, we met for eighteen months at the Massey-Ranch Elementary School. In 2011,
we were given an opportunity to purchase our current property and facilities. We had our
first service at this location on July 31st, 2011. The word "Providential" is appropriate,
because our church began without any support from another church or a mission
organization; but nevertheless, God has sustained us and blessed us in numerous ways.
Our hope and prayer has been that God will establish a conservative Bible believing church
in Pearland, Alvin, Manvel, Friendswood, Houston and the surrounding area. We also pray
that we will remain faithful to our Lord until His glorious return.
We are transparent in many ways. We have a Church Treasurer and others who assist
him. Our membership and financial records appear on a weekly basis in our church bulletins,
and a monthly report is made available at every congregational meeting. Our church budget
is approved annually by a vote from the church body. Our Church Constitution and Bylaws
are available to church members, and those considering membership, upon request.
I want to thank all of you for your prayers
and your expressions of compassion during my
recent health crisis. The cardiologist confirmed that I did have a heart attack; but fortunately,
I was blessed with an extra artery (I wonder where that came from?). The extra artery had an 80% blockage; and so, I received one stint. I am grateful that we live in a day and time when this less invasive treatment is available. The good news is that my heart is functioning in the low normal range already, and this can be improved with a good diet and exercise. I was told that
I can resume normal activities but nothing strenuous for three to four weeks, and this includes preaching. In ten days, I will have a follow up visit with the cardiologist, and he will tell me if I might be able to start preaching
a little bit sooner.
I will try to spend this time constructively.
I will be praying earnestly for our ministry, and I will be doing some sermon resource work.
May God Richly Bless You All
